Why a consultation call with your photographer is important.

One of the great things about being a photographer is getting to meet all sorts of different and interesting people and telling their stories through beautiful and compelling imagery. Whether you have just gotten engaged, are commemorating a milestone anniversary or you are wanting to celebrate and revel in the gift that is your family, I am always excited to work with Baskin Creative clients and capture your memorable moments and the stories within them.

The first step in us creating lasting and beautiful images together, is us having an initial consultation call before we sign contracts or have money exchange hands. I understand that this may feel like another commitment to add to your already busy schedule, however, I think that there is great value in us taking the time to set up a consultation.

I would like to share with you the reasons why I implement consultation calls with my clients and why I think that they are beneficial to the both of us.

1. It is a good opportunity to get to know each other.

Whether it is for a wedding or whether it is because you need a specific portrait session done, I highly recommend we take the time to get to know each other because when you strip things down to its core – we are both just two people trying to figure out if we are a good fit to work together. But we will not know the answer to this if we do not first take the time to get to know each other and develop a feel for each. Having a consultation call not only gives us an opportunity to discuss your photography needs in greater details but it also gives you an opportunity to ask questions and share any concerns you may have going into the session. Whether you are self-conscious about a certain part of your body or you are concerned about feeling beautiful and confident in front of the camera, taking the time to address these issues and anything else you feel comfortable sharing with me helps give me insight on how best to craft a session that tailored-made for you. Developing this dialogue between us goes a long way in establishing great rapport and this will ultimately result in beautiful imagery that we both love and are proud of.

2. It is a great way to clear the air and set expectations.

I have just mentioned the importance of there being good rapport between us and of you asking questions. This is particularly important because as we take the time to flesh things out during this consultation call, we begin to clearly lay out what we can expect of each other. Over the course of our time working together, there will be minimal risk of conflict, misunderstanding and miscommunication as we would have already taken the time to set the groundwork on which our work relationship is based. Everything would have been discussed thoroughly and understandings would be reached clearly as we proceed to work together.

During our consultation call, I would share with you a bit about how I work and what you can expect of me for the duration of our time working together. From my editing style to when I deliver your online gallery and heirloom products like prints and photo albums, all these and more are things that need to be addressed in a consultation call – that way, you know right from the get-go what the Baskin Creative client experience is like and what you can anticipate as we journey together in getting you beautiful images you will love and cherish for years and years.

3. To develop an effective and efficient work relationship.

I want us to enjoy our time working together and one of the best ways I have found to be able to do that is to develop a great working relationship between us that is based on clear and honest communication. A well cultivated working relationship between us is hugely important as this will ultimately have a great impact on the mood and environment on the day of the photo shoot which can have an effect on kinds of images we are able to produce together.

If we can come into the day of the session with positive energy and optimism, I guarantee you that it will translate into a fun and vibrant session that results in gorgeous images! Having a consultation call is important because it is the first key ingredient of us creating a healthy and effective work relationship. This will make working together a pleasure and at the end of our collaboration, we will both be in possession of beautiful images that have heart, soul and story captured in them!

Sharing my thoughts on why I feel consultation calls are so important and why I implement then in working with you has made me excited to hear from you. I encourage you not overlook the importance of having a consultation call because it really goes a long way in setting the tone of what working together will be like.

So, with all that said, I would really love to learn a little bit more about you and your photography needs so don’t hesitate to get in touch and let’s set up a consultation call where we can get to know each other and collaborate on how we can infuse your next photo shoot with classic beauty, timeless style and sophisticated elegance.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Warmly,
