Every wedding that I have the privilege of photographing is always special to me and this wedding was no exception! On a gorgeous June summer day, I had the unique privilege of photographing the wedding of Sunney and Tyson at the stunning La Casa Mirador in Kelowna, BC. Sunney, the beautiful bride, is not only a special friend to me on a personal level, but she is also an incredibly gifted and talented wedding planner in her own right, and being entrusted to capture her special day was truly a joy and a real labour of love in the best possible way!

Saturday, June 10th, 2023 began with bright sunshine, setting the perfect backdrop for what would be a truly unforgettable celebration of Sunney and Tyson's love. Both Sunney and Tyson chose to get ready at La Casa Mirador and it was a fun morning of them getting to enjoy special and precious moments together with their nearest and dearest before walking down the aisle and saying, "I do!" to their forever. One of the most touching aspects of the day was Sunney's choice to wear heirloom jewelry that had been passed down through the generations of women in her family. A pearl necklace and matching earrings that had been worn by both her mother and grandmother on their respective wedding days symbolized Sunney's connection to her family's past and the rich legacy of love that had brought her to this moment. The theme of pearls and connection was intricately woven throughout the wedding, from the pearl-like buttons at the back of her dress to the pearl shoes she purchased in Dubai to the stunning wedding cake adorned with pearls. Every detail reflected the deep bond and love shared between Sunney and Tyson, creating an atmosphere of warmth and joy that was palpable to all in attendance

During the wedding planning process as Sunney and I discussed and created the timeline for their wedding day, Sunney mentioned to me that while she didn't want to do a first look with Tyson, she did want to have a first look with her father and brothers so, come the day of their wedding, we picked one of the many beautiful locations that La Casa Mirador has to offer to set up the first look. Standing on the beautiful balcony of the top floor, we had the most gorgeous, panoramic views of the Okanagan in all of it's glory serving as the perfect backdrop for such a heartfelt moment. And man, was that first look something truly special to witness and document for my couple. As Sunney's father and brothers turned around to look at her, you could feel all of the love they shared and the joy that they felt in that moment - it was a magical moment!

After tears were dried, hugs were shared, and family portraits taken, we made our way to the wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony took place at the campground in Fintry - just a short five-minute drive from La Casa Mirador. The officiant of the wedding, Alexandra O'Geil of "Your Ceremony By Alex" also a close friend of Sunney and me, added an extra layer of personal meaning for me. After all, how often does one get to photograph the wedding of a friend and fellow wedding industry vendor while working alongside another friend and wedding industry vendor... So, to say that this was a uniquely enjoyable experience for me would be quite an understatement. As the ceremony got underway, dark clouds moved overhead and a light rain began to fall. There was something really special about that rain as it added a touch of magic to the intimate setting. The clouds helped to diffuse what would have ordinarily been harsh sunlight at that time of day giving the images a soft, romantic glow. Despite the weather having taken a bit of a turn, the love that Sunney and Tyson share radiated from them as they said their vows, making for some of the most heartfelt moments of their wedding ceremony and some of my favourite pictures from the day overall. As the ceremony drew to a close, the sun reemerged and cast a golden glow over the lush surroundings of Fintry, and this led to some stunning lighting when we took family portraits after the ceremony. With the warm glow of that setting sun, I couldn't help but think to myself that the white, sage green and gold color palette of their wedding created the most elegant and timeless atmosphere that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of the ceremony location.

Heading back to La Casa Mirador for the reception, we headed to a cliff with the most breathtaking views and there we created some beautiful portraits and Sunney and Tyson and the whole bridal party. Eventually, we headed back down the cliff and to the reception which Sunney had decorated to perfection the night before. The beauty and elegance of Sunney and Tyson's wedding did not go unnoticed because as I was retouching their wedding photographs, I knew that their wedding images were publication-worthy and you can view the publication featuring their wedding in Confetti magazine - one of Canada's largest online wedding blogs. The stunning images captured on that day truly showcased the love and joy that filled every moment of their union.

I had the joyous privilege of capturing both Sunney and Tyson's engagement photos as well as their wedding day and the love and connection that surrounded them. As I look back on the images from that day, I am reminded of the power of love to bring people together and create moments of beauty and joy that will last a lifetime! Thank you, Sunney and Tyson, for choosing me to be a part of one of the most important and special days of your life! It was so special for me and an honour to serve you in this way! I wish you both nothing but all of the love and happiness in the world! May you live happily ever after!

Remembering her Grandpa who is no longer with us. She wore his handkerchief tucked into her dress and close to her heart - the special place where he now resides.

A treasured family heirloom. This pearl necklace was worn but both her grandmother and her mother on their wedding day and not, it was Sunney's turn. What a beautiful legacy!
