Macro photography is how I got here...

I have always LOVED photography - especially macro photography! In fact - as I have mentioned in the title of this blog post - macro photography is how I got here. Let me explain what I mean when I say that...

I love macro photography because I have always seen it as a beautifully analogy of how one can see much beauty and learn a great deal if one were only to stop and take a closer look at something. i don't know about you, but I know that I'm almost always living life at a million miles a minute and because I live at this relentless pace, not only do I run the risk of getting burnt out but I also tend to miss a lot of details because I am always rushing to get to the next thing and then to the thing after that. I confess that I am guilty of not always living in the moment and of not "stopping to smell the roses." And this is where macro photography steps in... I am learning that in order to take a truly breathtaking shot, I often need to slow down and take in what's surrounding me. If I'm too busy living in the fast lane and living a life that is constantly go, go, go, then more often then not, I will miss the opportunity to capture a truly beautiful moment in time simply because I am too distracted to even notice the beauty in the moment.

When was the last time you stopped to smell the flowers?

I'm learning that there is great beauty to be found if you slow down long enough to see it and when you do, those moments truly are priceless! So, in closing, I will leave you with some macro shots that I have taken. I hope these will serve you as a reminder to slow down once in a while and to stop and smell the roses whenever you can...

While you may not be able to smell it, you can still stop to take a moment to appreciate it...
